EY Advisory has bought UK-based digital design consultancy Seren as part of its continued investment to grow its strategy consulting services. This sub-project was part of a larger project in connection to the EY Open Banking Innovation Centre which organised bespoke Open Banking workshops of over 20 institutions including Barclays, Santander, Alior Bank, L&G, Vodafone, PayPal and the Bank of Russia. The general concept is to have open banking that allows the use of open APIs that enable third-party developers to build applications and services around the financial institution, and have data ownership and the ability to aggregate accounts in one place.
The requirement was to create visual UI concepts for the customers profile at Barclays. I have created 3 versions. The first version was an image based approach, using lifestyle images to emphasise the characteristics of the account holder and generic atmospheric background images for details/history. For the second and third version I used a clean illustrative approach using iconography and various typographical/layout solutions to visually lay down the history and behaviour of the account holder. The goal was to create an ejoyable and easy to navigate UI visual for the bank account holder in this new platform that gives a new way to access its bank account.
